Overview

Dolina Strążyska pairs a pleasant valley approach with a short but punchy climb to Czerwona Przełęcz—a classic "two-act" Tatra day from Zakopane. The lower section follows forest road and meadow (Polana Strążyska) with hut benches and shepherd atmosphere before the gradient steepens.

The passage to the pass is intensive: roots, stone steps, and quick elevation gain in a compressed distance. The reward is a head-on perspective on Giewont's huge north face and glimpses of the town through breaks in the trees.

Good for hikers who want more than a valley walk but are not ready for chains. Limestone stays treacherous when icy; traction aids are wise in cold months. Strollers only to the meadow.

Ice Hazard:The limestone at the top of Sarnia Skała can be extremely treacherous in winter/spring. Traction cleats (micro-spikes) are strongly recommended.

Surface: Forest road in the valley, transitioning to steep natural stairs and rocky paths on the ascent.
Accessibility: Not suitable for strollers due to the steep terrain and steps beyond the meadow.

Access: Start at the end of Strążyska street (Zakopane). Public buses and city parking available.

National Park Rules: Strictly no dogs (except Chochołowska valley floor and Droga pod Reglami). No swimming in lakes. Admission fee applies.
Sunset Rule: From March 1 to November 30, all TPN trails are closed from dusk to dawn to protect wildlife and for safety. Plan your return before sunset.
