Overview
Giewont (1,894 m) is Poland's most iconic summit—the "Sleeping Knight" cross visible from Zakopane. This itinerary strings together Kuźnice, Kalatówki meadow, Albertine monastery calm, Kondratowa basin, and Kondracka Przełęcz before the chained, exposed finish on polished limestone.
Expect a full arc from forest to high pass to serious exposure: one-way traffic on chain sections, crowds on good weather weekends, and zero tolerance for storms on the metal cross. The red segment toward Strążyska is seasonally closed in winter–spring; plan the descent accordingly.
Not for strollers, pets, or casual footwear. It is a national rite of passage for capable hikers who accept queue risk and objective mountain hazards.
