Overview

Sandstone towers up to 90 m in two rock towns, and one long day that takes in both — Adršpach's gorges, rock gate and lake at one end, the Teplice towers at the other.

16.4 km and 443 m of climbing, and the day divides in two: the rock towns, where you move slowly and stop often, and the quiet forest crossing between them.

A full day, and the hardest of the four walks from this car park. Loops of 4.1, 10.1 and 14.8 km start from the same place.

Points of interest

  • Gotická branka — The Gothic Gate — a rock opening the path runs straight through, and the entrance to the densest towers in Adršpach.
  • Adršpašské jezírko — The lake at the bottom of the gorge, with the Great Waterfall just before. This walk carries on south to Teplice rather than turning back.
  • vodopády Vlčí rokle — Waterfalls in Wolf Gorge where the path climbs through wet rock and steps.
  • Vlčí rokle – pod sedmi schody — The 'seven steps' in Wolf Gorge — the top of the climb out of Adršpach and the start of the long crossing to Teplice.
  • Vyhlídka na Střmen — A lookout on Střmen with the Teplice towers opening below.
  • U Roklin — A viewpoint among the Teplice formations where the path runs through the densest towers.
  • Před Zvětralým vrchem (rozcestí) — A KČT guidepost at the forest junction before the climb over Zvětralý vrch — the start of the long western leg back.
  • Janovická Vlčí rokle — The Janovice Wolf Gorge — the forest floor the path follows on the way back into Adršpach from the west.

Trail alerts

  • No waymarks. The forest leg back from Teplice loses the hiking waymarks for about 1.4 km — keep to the main path through the wood and pick up the marked trail again at the next signpost.
  • Tickets are capped by the hour. Adršpach admits a limited number of people in each time slot, and a full day needs an early one — buy your slot before you travel and start before 8:00.

Trail character

  • About half the walk is forest path and a quarter is hard-surfaced, with boardwalk laid over the wettest ground in the gorges.
  • It climbs 443 m in all, between 507 m and 718 m, and most of that comes on the forest leg back rather than among the towers.
  • Steps and narrow clefts through both rock towns slow the pace, and the surface changes often — wear proper walking shoes.

Access & rules

  • Getting there: By car to Adršpach, about two hours from Prague on the D11.
  • Parking: Parkoviště Adršpašské skály at the start, open around the clock and charged.
  • Tickets and fees: Two rock towns, two operators — on the Teplice side only the Skalní potok circuit is charged, Supí skály and Čáp are free.
  • Rules: The rock towns are a national nature reserve, where walking is allowed only on the designated trails.
