Overview

Sandstone towers up to 90 m, and the path goes between them — through clefts, a gate in the rock, and down to the green lake at the bottom of the gorge.

The rocks and the crowds are done in the first hour; the rest is forest, quiet high ground and a long circuit back around the outside. Allow most of a day: 14.8 km and 345 m of climbing.

Best if you want the whole reserve in one walk and can manage steps and ladders. Loops of 4.1, 10.1 and 16.4 km start from the same trailhead.

Points of interest

Malý vodopád — A small waterfall where the gorge tightens — you hear it through the trees before the path drops to the lake.
vodopády Vlčí rokle — Waterfalls at the foot of Wolf Gorge, where the climb out of the rock town begins.
U Roklin — Guidepost at the ravines on the southern turn; the signed viewpoint is thirty metres further on.
Před Zvětralým vrchem (rozcestí) — KČT guidepost at a forest junction on the crest — check the arrow before the long western leg.
Pod liškou — 'Below the fox' — a guidepost at 626 m, named for Liščí hora above; last named marker before the road circuit.
Bunkr — A concrete bunker just off the path — a wartime relic in the trees on the northern return.
Zámek Adršpach — Adršpach castle above the village on the road circuit home; the tower shows above the trees.

Trail alerts

Part of the loop is not signed: the forest track on the far side carries no waymarks. This is a national nature reserve — stay on the made path and do not cut between the rocks.
The last third leaves the rocks: about 2.7 km of the way back runs on public roads through the village, with one short stretch that has no pavement. Walk facing the traffic and keep children close.
The gorge jams by mid-morning — there are narrow places where you wait for people coming the other way. Start at opening and be through the rocks before the coaches arrive.

Trail character

About a third of the loop is narrow footpath and about a third is sealed surface — proper walking shoes, not trainers.
The remainder is compacted gravel and sand, with boardwalk laid over the wettest ground in the gorge.
It climbs 345 m in all, between 507 m and 720 m — steep steps and metal ladders in the rocks, then one long pull through the forest.

Access & rules

Getting there: by car to Adršpach on the road from Hronov; regional buses reach the village in summer.
Parking: at the rock-town car park by the start — it fills on summer weekends, so come early.
Tickets and fees: the rock town is paid, and parking is charged separately from admission.
Rules: dogs, bikes and swimming are restricted on the paid circuit; show your ticket at the gate.
Opening hours: the circuit opens seasonally and closes earlier in autumn and winter.
Facilities: toilets and food at the rock-town entrance; carry water for the second half.
