Overview

A full-day circuit linking the two sandstone rock towns of Adršpach and Teplice. Between them the route crosses forest and open high ground where few people walk, and the rock scenery is concentrated at either end of the day. The two towns are run separately and charged separately.

Points of interest

Pískovna — The flooded sandpit, and the first thing this walk does is go round it. The path holds the shore for several hundred metres before turning into the rock town.
Gotická branka — The 'Gothic gate', a rock opening the line runs straight through at 0 m off, and the entrance to the dense part of the Adršpach towers.
Adršpašské jezírko — The lake at the bottom of the gorge, 6 m off the line, with the landing stage for the boat across it and the Great Waterfall just before. This walk passes the water rather than turning back at it, because it carries on south to Teplice.
Vlčí rokle – pod sedmi schody — The 'seven steps' in the Wolf Gorge, 3 m off the line at 527 m — the top of the climb out of Adršpach and the start of the long crossing to Teplice.
Skalní hrad Střmen — The rock castle of Střmen, 7 m off the line. The walls are gone and the rock they were cut into is not; the outlook from it is the widest on the Teplice side.
U Sekery — 'At the axe', a guidepost at 575 m, 4 m off the line, named for the tower above it — the middle of the Teplice rock town and the densest stretch of formations on the walk.
V Anenském údolí — A waterfall in the Anna valley, 6 m off the line, where the walk drops out of the Teplice towers and the rock gives way to forest.
Záboř (býv. osada) — A guidepost at 672 m marking a settlement that is no longer there — 'býv. osada' is 'former village'. Nothing stands here now but the sign and the clearing it names, 3 m off the line.
Křížek s tělem Krista — A wayside cross with the body of Christ, 7 m off the line — the one built thing on the long western leg.
Pod liškou — 'Below the fox', a guidepost at 626 m, 8 m off the line, named for Liščí hora above it. It is the westernmost point of the walk and the last named thing before the forest road back.
Ledová rokle — The 'ice gorge', 32 m off the line — a cleft that holds cold air and, in a hard year, ice into the summer. The spring of the Metuje rises just beyond it, and from here the walk follows that river's valley home.
Janovická Vlčí rokle — The Janovice Wolf Gorge, whose floor the line runs along for the last kilometre of forest, and the way back into Adršpach from the west.
Starosta a Starostová — A viewpoint 2 m off the line looking at the Mayor and the Mayoress, the tallest pair in Adršpach, reached on the way back in.
Zámek Adršpach — The Adršpach chateau, 25 m off the line near the end of the walk — the one built thing on the route that is not a path, a shelter or a gate.

Trail alerts

3782 m of the 17803 m — over a fifth of the walk — is unmarked: it follows ways carrying no hiking waymarks at all. The crossing between the two rock towns has no blaze to follow, so the route has to be walked from the track rather than from signs.
2842 m runs on roads, 16% of the walk, with a further 1203 m within 25 m of one. No stretch of it is a carriageway with no pavement of its own, but the traffic is there.
Opening and closing times for the Teplice rock town could not be confirmed: its operator's website is not a source we are cleared to fetch. On a loop of this length, a gate shut part-way through leaves the walk unfinishable as planned.
Seasonal closures were not checked: no closure dataset covering this region is available to us. Confirm locally before setting out.

Trail character

Most of the walk is path — 6957 m by way type, and a further 1627 m tagged as path underfoot.
4666 m is hard-surfaced, 1979 m compacted earth, 909 m sand and 896 m boardwalk; 709 m carries no surface tag at all.
The loop climbs 505 m in total and runs between 507 m and 718 m.
The ground west of the line rises to Nad srázem at 746 m, which no walkable way reaches; the route passes below it.

Access & rules

The loop starts and finishes at the rock town's entrance, Adršpašské skály (vstup), 5 m off the line. The nearest car park is Parkoviště Adršpašské skály, 157 m back, with the walk in from it drawn; no capacity is recorded for it in our data.
The walk begins in Adršpach, okres Náchod, and crosses the district boundary into the Trutnov area, passing through Teplice nad Metují and Jívka before it returns.
Admission is charged at Adršpach: the operator states that entry to the tour circuit and the car park are both paid.
On the Teplice side only part of the ground is ticketed — the circuit around Skalní potok is charged, while the Supí skály area and the Čáp summit are not.
About a third of the route, 6199 m, runs on paths inside ticketed ground.
