Overview

The Dicke Berta is the oldest oak in the district, a sessile tree some 700 years old, and the path goes to it rather than past it.

The loop climbs out of the valley in short pulls, not one long ascent, and comes back the same way.

A quiet half-day on marked tracks. Good if you want one tree to stand under rather than a string of views.

Lürbke — A hamlet 86 m off the line, about a third of the way round. Step off for the St. Hubertus chapel (+ a few minutes).
Dicke Berta — About halfway. The sessile oak this walk is named for — some 700 years old, trunk 5.74 m around, just off the path.
Hensenberg — The last rise, then the drop back to the car park.

Roads. 911 m is on roads open to cars, most of it residential lanes. 35 m has no pavement — share the carriageway there.

More than a third is gravel, about a quarter sealed, about a quarter forest track.
The climbs are short. Nothing needs hands. Not stroller country.

Getting there: by car to Wanderparkplatz Bieber; the L 537 at Lürbke is the early way out.
Parking: Wanderparkplatz Bieber, at the start, room for 62 cars.
