Overview

A short link between the two rock towns. From Skalní Mlýn the path runs north-west, nearly level the whole way, meets the Metuje halfway, and comes out at the edge of the Adršpach rocks. Almost all of it is on the red-blazed Czech hiking trail. It is a 2.4 km walk, the tail of a longer route rather than a day out, and it does not return to where it began.

Points of interest

Skalní Mlýn — A restaurant at the start of the walk, 14 m off the line. The route leaves the road here.
Černé jezírko — A small lake 171 m off the line to the south, at about km 0.9. A path 749 m long is drawn from the route to it; the name means the little black lake. It is a detour rather than a stop — the route itself does not touch the water.
Metuje — The Metuje, 16 m off the line at km 1.5. The path comes down to the river here — the same one that gives Teplice nad Metují its name.
Planetárium — A named top 36 m off the path at km 2.3, at the edge of the Adršpach rocks. It is one of a dense cluster of named sandstone formations here, and OSM maps it as a peak without recording a height for it or for any of its neighbours. The walk passes below it and climbs nothing.

Trail alerts

The walk is one way. It ends about 2 km from where it starts and there is no loop back, so the way home has to be worked out before setting off.
219 m of the line is on roads of one kind or another, and 51 m of that has no pavement of its own; a further 285 m runs within 25 m of a road, mostly an unnamed one.
This is not a signposted route of its own: the blazes along it belong to two much longer trails that happen to share the ground, and 15 m of residential street is unmarked. Follow the track rather than the signs.
Seasonal closures have not been checked. No closure dataset for this district is in our source registry, so nothing here rules out a path being shut.

Trail character

Underfoot: 2071 m of compacted earth track, 168 m of hard surface and 46 m of boardwalk. A further 87 m carries no surface tag in OSM at all.
Nearly flat. The line stays between 495 m and 514 m, with 32 m of climbing and 22 m of descent over the whole distance, none of it sustained.
Two waymarked hiking routes run along almost all of it: the red-blazed KČT 0404 from Náchod to Pod Pasekou, which shares 2043 m of the line, and the blue-blazed Pavel Heček Czech-Polish trail, which shares 2003 m. Both are long-distance routes — 70.6 km and 45.4 km — and this walk is a short piece of their common ground.

Access & rules

The start is a small car park 12 m off the line at Skalní Mlýn. OSM records no capacity for it, so treat it as a lay-by rather than a visitor car park.
The finish stands beside the large Adršpach visitor car park — 1528 spaces recorded in OSM, but tagged there as not open. Check it before counting on it.
Neither end has a confirmed station or stop. The access check run over this line found a car park at the start, a car park at the finish and no station at either, and no timetable was consulted, so returning by train or bus is unverified.
The restaurant at the start, Skalní Mlýn, is tagged in OSM as open daily 12:00-22:00.
No part of this walk lies inside a ticketed enclosure. The Adršpach rock town charges admission; the line ends outside it.
