Overview

Rusinowa Polana is the Tatras' most approachable high meadow with a true "front row" on the main ridge—Gerlach, Rysy, and neighbours rise directly across the valley. A wide, gently sloping forest path from Wierch Poroniec keeps the physical load modest while the scenery feels anything but.

Traditional grazing, seasonal sheep culture, and a bacówka for oscypek add authentic Highland character. The clearing is a natural picnic and photo stage without chains or exposed scrambling.

Parking fills fast on weekends; buses from Zakopane are a good backup. The route is stroller-friendly to the meadow—ideal for families and anyone who wants big-mountain views with minimal vertical stress.

Points of interest

  • Rusinowa Polana — A historic alpine meadow where traditional sheep grazing still takes place (seasonally).
  • High Tatra Panorama — Breathtaking views of the Belianske and High Tatras peaks directly from the clearing.
  • Bacówka — A traditional mountain hut where you can try fresh "oscypek" cheese.
  • Gęsia Szyja & Wiktorówki — Add-on to the summit and forest chapel (+1:15 h).
